The Angels beat the Tigers 5-1 Monday night for their 15th win in the last 21 games a Peter Bourjos sparkled with the glove helping Joel Pineiro tame a potent Tigers offense. Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells both connected for solo bombs as the Angels took the opening game of the series. Tonight’s game provides fans with yet another in what has become a recent string of pitching duels as Dan Haren will square off against Tiger’s ace Justin Verlander.
