Angels Weekend Wrap-Up And The Monday Links

The Angels somehow managed to take 2 of 3 from the Mariners while scoring just 4 runs this weekend. The offensive mishaps were highlighted by Mike Scioscia defiantly hitting Bobby Abreu in the cleanup spot for 2 of the 3 games and Jeff Mathis single handedly stranding five men on base Friday night.

Predictably Jered Weaver and Ervin Santana were brilliant in their starts and Tyler Chatwood was shaky in his. The Halo rookie starter did improve on his control walking just 1 batter across 6 1/3 innings however he was done in by the two out hit allowing 4 of his 5 earned runs to cross with 2 men out.

Mark Trumbo and Torii Hunter both had solid series for the Halos. Hunter went 6 for 12 in the 3 game set and it appears maybe – just maybe he is turning the corner. Meanwhile Trumbo went 5 for 11 and supplied the  Angels with a much needed early run against Felix Hernandez on Sunday hitting a ball almost 500 feet to left center field. It was already his second career home run off the reigning AL CY Young king.

  • Up next the Angels head to the Bronx to face off against the Yankees. Now onto the Monday links.
