Fresh off a 3-4 road trip and 4 game split with the Seattle Mariners the Angels head home to welcome the Twins to the Big A for a weekend series. Angels ace Jered Weaver was hit with the traumatic news of his grand father’s passing and will be headed to Oregon for funeral services. That pushes rookie Tyler Chatwood from Triple A to the Big A for a spot start against the Twins Friday.
The Angels need to play really well on this home stand. There are just 26 games left and the deficit in the AL West remains at 3.5 games. While the Angels will square off against the Twins the Rangers will head to Boston to play the Red Sox. This could be a pivotal weekend where the Angels pick up a game or two or another frustrating series that sees them tread water.
