The Angels bats stayed hot on Wednesday as they cranked out fourteen hits and seven runs to beat the Blue Jays 7 -2. Vernon Wells homered for the second straight day and Peter Bourjos had three hits including a home run and a triple to pace the Halos. The win coupled with the Red Sox loss to the Orioles and the Rays being swept in a double header in New York moved the Angels (and The Rays) to just 2.5 games behind Boston with seven left to play. Since the Rangers won again keeping the Angels five games back – the Wild Card is looking like the Halos only hope for the post season. Boston is off Thursday and the Rays face a Yankee team that will likely be out late boozing in the Meat Packing District or somewhere in Soho to commemorate their AL East Championship.
Meanwhile Ervin Santana takes the hill Thursday against Henderson Alvarez looking to “keep hope alive”. Ahh meaningful baseball in September…. whats not to love?
