Just when you thought your days spent whining about a useless catcher who struggles to hit above .200 playing for the Angels were over – meet the Dioner Navarro to the Angels rumor. Jon Heyman is reporting that for some mysterious reason the Angels are interested in the former Doyer and Rays back stop who posted a Mathis like 193/.276/.324 slash in 2011.
What is perhaps more baffling is that a move to acquire Navarro would likely mean Hank Conger would be on the move. Instead of setting up an ideal scenario with Conger semi platooning with Chris Iannetta while refining his approach both at and behind the plate - could the Angels be looking to trade their top catching prospect for relief help? Lets sure hope not.
