The Angels needed to rally late and they did exactly that as they came up with three in the eighth to break the tie and get game one of the series vs. the Royals. Kendrys Morales came up with big pinch hit in the bottom of the eighth to get the win for the Angels.
The Royals got it started in the top of the third when Eric Hosmer singled, stole second, went to third on a single by Bryan Pena and was driven in by Alex Gordon. After a flyout, Lorenzo Cain drove in Pena with a sac fly. In the bottom half, Mike Trout singled, Torii Hunter doubled and Albert Pujols drove in Trout with a groundout. Trout has now scored a run in 15 straight. After a popout, Howard Kendrick drove in Hunter to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth, Kendrick walked, moved to second on a groundout, stole third and Maicer Izturis drove him in with a single. The Royals came right back in the seventh when Hosmer singled, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on Pena’s single. In the eighth, with two out, Alberto Callaspo singled, Izturis doubled to get him to third and Peter Bourjos walked. Morales pinch hit for Bobby Wilson and socked a single to deep right that scored everyone.
