There’s been a common theme lately to Angels games. A good amount of hitting and not a pitching. This continued yesterday as the Angels lost again to the Oakland A’s 9-8. Zack Greinke didn’t pitch that well walking five and giving up four runs in five innings. When the bullpen had the lead, it failed to protect it.
The Angels kicked off the scoring when Kendrys Morales hit his 13th homer of the year in the second. In the bottom half of the second, George Kottaras hit his fourth homer of the year. After three walks by Greinke, one of which erased by a pickoff, Brandon Moss and Josh Reddick brought the runners home with singles. In the third, Chris Iannetta hit his fifth homer of the year. In the top of the fifth, Torii Hunter and Morales hit home runs. Then the Angel bullpen came in. Coco Crisp brought home a run after a leadoff walk. After a walk, Yoenis Cespedes singled home a run and Chris Carter homered soon after. In the top of the seventh, Mark Trumbo hit his 29th homer of the year. In the ninth, Howard Kendrick drove home two runs with a single.
