Well this looks like the Angels team from a week ago. Get lead. Starter pitches okay. Bullpen can’t hold it. This describes last night’s game as the Angels fell to the Tigers 5-3. This also stops the Angels win streak at four and sets up an important rubber game for the afternoon.
Dan Haren pitched better than he had in a while, giving up only two runs over 5.2 innings and striking out seven. Garrett Richards was the culprit out of the bullpen this time, giving up three late runs. It started out pretty well. Vernon Wells hit his ninth homer of the year in the third. Bobby Wilson reached on an error and three batters later, Howard Kendrick drove him in with a double. In the fourth, Kendrys Morales reached on Austin Jackson‘s error and Erick Aybar drove him in with a double. In the sixth, Omar Infante doubled, and three batters later Delmon Young drove him in with a double of his own. Andy Dirks followed that up with a single. In the eighth, Prince Fielder singled and two batters later, Dirks singled to move Fielder to third. Jhonny Peralta brought everyone home to give the Tigers the lead with a double and Alex Avila followed with a single to drive Peralta in.
