Apparently, Mark Trumbo loves Kansas City. He put on a show during the home run derby and his home run in the second helped lift the Angels to a 4-3 win. In a series they should have swept, they at least leave KC taking two of three.
The Angels got off to a quick start, when Erick Aybar doubled and two batter later, Torii Hunter drove him in with a single. The Angels then added to it in the second. Vernon Wells and Alberto Callaspo each singled. Trumbo followed that with his 31st Trumbomb of the year.
The Royals fought back. Salvador Perez led off with a double, went to third on Mike Moustakas‘ groundout and scored on Jeff Francoeur‘s groundout. Tony Abreu then led off the Royals third with his first of the year. In the fouth, Billy Butler doubled and then Francoeur got his second RBI of the day with a single.
The Angels bullpen held the fort for Dan Haren going 3.1 scoreless while giving up only one hit and one walk. After a day off, the Angels return home to take on the Texas Rangers. Ryan Dempster will go for Texas. As of this post, the Angels have yet to announce their starter. The game will be at 10:05ET/7:05PT
