Halo Highlights- Jered Weaver Wins 20 For First Time In Career

When you need your big players the most is right at this point in the season. Jered Weaver continues to deliver. Weaver became a 20 game winner for the first time in his career, going seven strong innings as the Angels beat the Texas Rangers 7-4. They remain two games out due to Oakland’s win with five to go.

Mike Trout led off the game with his 29th homer of the year. In the third, Chris Iannetta hit his ninth of the year. In the fourth, Howard Kendrick singled. Erick Aybar reached on fielder’s choice and Mark Trumbo drove him home with a double.The Rangers got one back in the bottom half when Josh Hamilton doubled, Adrian Beltre singled but got thrown out trying to stretch it into a double and Nelson Cruz hit a sac fly.

In the sixth, Kendrick walked, stole second and scored on Trumbo’s double. The Angels broke it open in the seventh. Torii Hunter walked and two batters later scored on Kendrys Morales‘ double. After a strikeout, Kendrick drove in Morales with a single and went to second on the throw. Erick Aybar singled and Trumbo drove in another run with a single of his own.

In the bottom half, Cruz hit his 23rd homer of the year. In the eighth, Ian Kinsler walked and Beltre hit his 36th homer of the year.

The series continues with a day game, as Ervin Santana and Derrick Holland will duel at 1:05PT/4:05ET as one of the Fox national TV games.
