It’s been a grueling *looks at watch* three days since the Giants won the World Series to end the actual playing of baseball season. Next up is a flurry of players having their options picked up or declined before the Hot Stove league takes over our winter. But way before any free agency or trades or a pitcher or catcher report, Vegas already has the odds for your 2013 World Series champion.
While the Angels haven’t decided on the futures of Dan Haren and Ervin Santana or publicly offered Zack Greinke any money, they aren’t in bad shape according to line makers. Bovada has the early odds based on some kind of sure fire math equation, crystal ball rubbing or pulling teams out of hat. Here’s a partial list…
Detroit Tigers 7/1
New York Yankees 10/1
San Francisco Giants 10/1
Washington Nationals 10/1
Cincinnati Reds 12/1
Los Angeles Angels 12/1
Texas Rangers 12/1
Los Angeles Dodgers 14/1
Atlanta Braves 16/1
Philadelphia Phillies 16/1
St. Louis Cardinals 16/1
Houston Astros 150/1
So the Angels are the five-ish favorites to win the World Series. That’s not too shabby but Mike Trout by himself is 3/1 to win everything. Of course, Nevada does not recognize my email suggestions as official lines or futures.
While you have your credit cards out, here are some other 12/1 futures.
Stanley Cup Champions
Los Angeles Kings 12/1 – Risky considering the 2013 season might be played out using NHL 1994 on Sega Genesis. Gretzky is pretty awesome in that game.
San Antonio Spurs 12/1 – I’m not the biggest NBA fan but this seems like a pretty good value. Is that French dude still married to that chick from that one show? That’s the analysis I’m willing to bring to a Spurs blog.
Super Bowl XLVII Champions
New England Patriots 11/2 – There is no team listed at 12/1 so the Pats will have to do with a jumbled version of the line.
England – Championship 2012/13 – Outright Betting
Nottingham Forest 12/1 – Something, something, Robin Hood. I have no idea what any of this is.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Winner
New Zealand 12/1 – Hip hop was invented in New Zealand.
X Factor USA – Season 2 – Winning Judge
Britney Spears EVEN
