Angels in the Dustbin: Indians Bring the Brooms

In last night’s game the Angels scored in the very first at-bat with a J.B. Shuck home run. That would be the only run they would score for the next 18 innings. Not a good way to win games.

The Angels finally did score in the bottom of the 6th cutting the lead in half with a Hank Conger double. But when Williams finally handed the ball over in the middle of the 7th Williams was still on the hook for a loss despite having struck out six and allowed just 2 runs. Easily Williams best start since the first-half of the season, Williams could do nothing but lose the game or get a no-decision.

The Angels threatened in the 7th loading the bases before Josh Hamilton grounded out weakly to end the inning. While a two-out double by Kole Calhoun resulted in nothing but Chris Nelson striking out looking on a slow breaking ball right down the middle from with two-out from Cody Allen.

Angels bullpen bled another run. Chris Perez came in and got nasty. Game over. Angels find themselves in the dustbin of a sweep at home at the hands of the tribe.

The Angels will now embark on a nine game road trip before returning home September 2nd to face the Rays. You can find tickets available from Barrys Ticket Service for as low as $5 for the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night games of that series.
