Halo Hangout Podcast: Interview W/ Dan Szymborski

Can you feel it? That ridiculous dip in the temperature that has left most of the country frozen in time? It can only mean one thing…baseball is around the corner.

Okay, maybe not exactly, but baseball is coming, thankfully. All we have to do is wait out one more silly football game before pitchers and catchers report, then we can start throwing around our opinions about roster construction, bullpen roles and who should be ordained as team waterboy. But until then, Fangraphs has been running out Dan Szymborski’s ZiPS projections for every team in baseball. And yesterday, the Angels projections were released.

On top of being much smarter than I am, and being able to work pant-less, Dan was also gracious enough to sit down for a little bit of time and go over ZiPS, Mike Trout‘s awesomeness, Ernesto Frieri‘s comp and other baseball related topics (as well as a few that we are going to call baseball related because we say so). No animals, children or spouses were harmed in any way during the recording of yesterday’s podcast.
