Angels Tickets 15% Below Average For Series Vs Astros

The Houston Astros were on a bit of a roll after they called up some highly touted prospects, but that didn’t last long. They’re back to their losing ways with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games, and firmly in last in the AL West. They stay in the division this week as the next team on the Los Angeles Angels schedule. The two teams have a four-game weekend series over the holiday, with promotions at almost every game. Still Los Angeles Angels tickets are averaging just $50.43 for the series, down 15 percent from the season average.

7/3 – HOU Brett Oberholtzer at LAA Matt Shoemaker | Avg. Price: $40 | Get-in Price: $5

The first game of the series is the only one without a promotion, and is also about the cheapest with just a $40 average and a $5 get-in price. Matt Shoemaker gets the start for the Angels, and while his 4.30 ERA looks bad, he’s been one of the team’s best pitchers. In just eight starts he has the third highest WAR on the team, and has a FIP of 2.86. His K/BB of 5.00 is easily the best on the team, and come close to doubling the next best pitcher.

7/4 – HOU Dallas Keuchel at LAA C.J. Wilson | Avg. Price: $66.85 | Get-in Price: $19

To put Shoemaker’s numbers in perspective, C.J. Wilson has made 17 starts and has the same 1.0 WAR. Wilson hasn’t had a bad season either, his 3.90 ERA and 3.98 FIP are right around where you’d expect his numbers. Still the July 4th game is the most expensive of the series with an average price of $66.85 and a get-in price of $19. Fans in attendance will get their fireworks fix, with a show for all in attendance after the game.

7/5 – HOU Scott Feldman at LAA Hector Santiago | Avg. Price: $55.88 | Get-in Price: $12

The holiday promotions continue for Saturday’s game with a patriotic hat given to those in attendance. The average price of the game drops a bit to $55.88 and the get-in price is $12. Hector Santiago has a 0-7 record, and is easily the worst Angels starter. He’s a fly ball pitcher who walks close to four batters in nine innings, but even he’s not had a horrible season. He strikes out over eight per nine innings, and his 4.32 ERA is more than acceptable for a fifth starter.

7/6 – HOU Colin McHugh at LAA Jered Weaver | Avg. Price: $39 | Get-in Price: $5

The final game of the series is also the cheapest. The average price of $39 just edges out Thursday’s game, and it has the same $5 get-in price. Jered Weaver takes the mound for the Angels, and he hasn’t been as good in years past. Still, he leads the team with 116.1 innings and is second with a 3.56 ERA. Colin McHugh gets the start for the Astros, and he’s pitched well from the beginning. He’s striking out over ten batters per nine innings, and has a 3.22 ERA. Kids in attendance will be allowed to run the bases after the game.
