The LA Angels have not had the best start to the season. Pitching has been a problem from both the starters and relievers. They went out and acquired Parker Bridwell and catcher Juan Graterol.

The LA Angels have sent cash considerations and a player to be named later in exchange for Bridwell. He will immediately be sent to the Double-A Mobile Baybears.

More from Halo Hangout

Drafted in the ninth round in 2010, Bridwell has been a part of the Baltimore Orioles’ organization his entire career. He was a starting pitcher throughout most of his career. He has thrown in some relief work, but has yet to find any success. Bridwell is a career 4.79 ERA pitcher in the minors. In his short trip to The Show in 2016, he owned a 13.50 ERA in 3.1 innings pitched over two games.

The Angels hope Bridwell, 25, is still young enough to reach his ceiling the Orioles drafted him for. If Bridwell can start strong in for the Baybears, Halo fans may see him by the end of the season.

The Angels moved Huston Street to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

The Angels made a move on Tuesday as well. They sent cash considerations or a player to be named later to the Toronto Blue Jays for catcher Juan Graterol. The 28-year-old catcher might sound familiar, as he spent most of 2016 in the Angels’ organization. However, he was waived late in the season. Graterol saw limited action last year for the Angels. In 14 at-bats, he had four hits (.286), two of which were doubles. He added on two runs and three RBI’s. On defense, he threw out 20% of would-be base stealers. With defensive studs Carlos Perez and Martin Maldonado on the active roster, it is hard to imagine Graterol getting much playing time this season.

The Angels designated outfielder Ryan LaMarre for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. LaMarre is hitting .268 for Triple-A Salt Lake this season. He has driven in seven runs and doubled and tripled once.

While these signings may seem unspectacular, remember how well Eppler did with seemingly small signings last season. He brought in Jefry Marte, who played a huge role last season and is a valuable bench player this season.
