The Angels continue to rebuild the Front Office and it looks mighty impressive. I guess. It’s going to take some time to gauge the success of new General Manager Jerry Dipoto and his crew. And even then, I doubt I will really understand what it is exactly that assistant GMs Scott Servais and Matt Klentak do. But, they all seem to have have shiny resumes and are well respected around the league as well as with the scribes.

Klentak is the newest addition after leaving the Orioles to join the Angels on Wednesday…

Before joining the Orioles, Klentak spent four years in Major League Baseball’s labor relations department, where he provided advice and interpretations on the collective bargaining agreement and on baseball rules to all 30 clubs. He spent 2003 in the Colorado Rockies’ baseball operations department, where he gained experience in video and advance scouting.

Four years studying the collective bargaining agreement? I think the Angels found their “loophole” guy for that mess of a new CBA. Klentak also has an economics degree from Dartmouth and is JUST 31-years-old.

Cut it, you guys. All of these Ivy League, phenom nerds are really starting to make me look bad.

The Angels have hired former Major League first baseman Hal Morris as their director of professional scouting, general manager Jerry Dipoto announced Monday.

New general manager Jerry Dipoto added Morris to his stable of advisors. Last week, he brought in former catcher Scott Servais to be an assistant GM and former Angel Gary DiSarcina to oversee player development.

“Hal brings a very special set of skills to our organization,” Dipoto said in a statement of Morris, who agreed to a multiyear contract.

Morris, 46, played for four teams — the Yankees (1988-89), Reds (1990-97, 1999-2000), Royals (’98) and Tigers (’00) — over parts of 13 seasons as a first baseman. Morris was a career .304 hitter, with 76 home runs and 513 RBIs. He finished second in the National League in hitting (.318) in 1991, trailing the Braves’ Terry Pendleton by one point. He was a member of the 1990 World Series champion Reds.
