Angels Split Weekend Series With Dodgers: Vernon Wells To Debut Against The A’s Today

The Angels split a pair of games this weekend with the Dodgers winning 4-1 Saturday before being shutout 5-0 on Sunday. Of note, Mark Trumbo went deep on Saturday, a good sign considering he may be pressed into action early in the season as Kendry Morales returns to full strength. Scott Kazmir felt strong but again got bad results in his inagrual spring start. I would take Kazmir’s stat line with a grain of salt whether bad or good for most of the spring as pitchers generally work on off speed pitches and location rather than unleash a game ready arsenal. At any rate Kazmir’s progression will be a key focus all spring.
Today the Halos square off against divisional foe Oakland at 12:05 PST. Vernon Wells is expected to make his Angels debut, and Torii Hunter and Bobby Abreu are also expected to get their first action of the spring as well.
