One of these days the Rangers will come west and make an appearance in Anaheim. Until then the Angels start another series deep in the heart of Texas as they face off against the Rangers for a 3 game series starting tonight with Jered Weaver taking the hill against Alexi Ogando. The teams start the series just a game and a half apart in the at the top of the crowded AL west.
Lets take a look at the series at a glance:
Pithcing Matchups
- Game 1: Jered Weaver vs. Alexi Ogando
- Game 2: Dan Haren vs. Derek Holland
- Game 3: Ervin Santana vs. C.J. Wilson
Ranger To Watch
- Michael Young – I’m sure Halo fans share in my disappointment that Michael Young is still a Ranger. Despite Young being pissed off all winter the Rangers found a way to pacify the long time star and in return Young has again been their best hitter all season. He comes into tonight’s game with a .349/.384/.514 slash line and a team leading (tied with Beltre) 28 RBI’s. Young has also historically been solid against the Halos hitting .281 with 16 home runs and 88 RBI’s in 177 career games.
Holy Halo
- Mark Trumbo – This is all feel. The Rangers are starting two lefties ( Holland , Wilson) this series and MArk has feastedon lef thanding pitching so far in his rookie season positng a .353/.389/.676 slash line with 3 of his 6 hoem runs. Trumbo’s power is real and the ball jumps in Arlington. Something has to give.
