Sweepless In Seattle? Ervin Santana Needs To Step Up As Halos Seek Sweep

The Angels will send Ervin Santana to the mound Wednesday as they look to sweep the Seattle Mariners in the best of 3 series. Santana will oppose Erik Bedard who takes the hill for the M’s on the heels of four straight strong performances. For Santana you could argue that this is his biggest start of the year. He is coming off of two consecutive loses in which he as allowed 7 earned runs in total. His ERA for the season now sits at 4.37. As we chronicled in the pre-season– Ervin appears to be on the same good year – bad year trajectory that has plagued his career so far.
A solid performance tonight would be huge for Santana but even bigger for the Angels. With a win- the Halos would pull to just 1/2 game behind Seattle for second place and at worse remain 3.5 games back of Texas.
