Yankees Series Ends In Error Now Its Off To Toronto For Angels

Errors will not only hurt you but against good teams errors will kill you. So was the case for the Angels Thursday as with the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning – Maicer Izturis muffed a routine ground ball (with 2 out) off the bat of Mark Teixera. Maicer’s error extended the inning and loaded the bases for Robinson Cano.
Predictably Cano made the Angels pay – drilling a grand slam into the right field masses. The error and impending slam proved to be too much for the Halos to overcome despite a pinch hit 3 run home run from Russell Branyan. The Angels went on to lose 6-5 while dropping 2 of 3 against the Yanks. With Vernon Wells again flailing away wildly at the plate for the entire series its a bit disappointing that Branyan didn’t get a start in one of the three games.
That short porch in right was built for his swing.
- Up Next: The Halos head to Toronto to face off against the Jays. Listen carefully for the sound Blue Jays fans make the first time Vernon Wells steps to the plate. When the scoreboard flashes his .208 batting average you may just here about 20,000 simultaneous sighs of relief.
