Happy Birthday Kendrys Morales

Kendrys Morales is having an amazing season. Sure, the .270/.317/.413 line isn’t All-Star caliber but he’s actually playing baseball.
Morales is, unfortunately, best known for his leg-shattering walk-off grandslam in 2010 that required surgeries and two years away from the plate. His breakout 2009 season (34 home runs, .306/.355/.569) eased the pain of having Mark Teixeira walk away to the Yankees in free agency the previous winter. That’s working out pretty well for the Angels in hindsight.
Today, Morales can celebrate his health and 29th birthday in American fashion with a Carvel Fudgie the Whale ice cream cake. The switch-hitting slugger was rumored to take 11 attempts at fleeing Cuba before successfully rafting away in 2004. As we all know, ice cream cake is forbidden in Cuba.
Morales signed a six-year deal with the Halos with a $3 million signing bonus and has his last year of arbitration coming up in 2013. Let’s all wish him continued health and home runs.
I got him another “S” for his birthday.
