Halo Highlights-Weaver Returns; Shuts Down Giants

It’s almost like he never left. Jered Weaver came off the DL and pitched six shutout innings as the Angels beat the Giants 6-0. Weaver only gave up two hits and walked two. Weaver was activated at the same time Jerome Williams was placed on the dl due to his breathing problems.
Alberto Callaspo kicked off the scoring with his fourth home run of the year in the second. In the fifth, Howard Kendrick doubled and
Erick Aybar drove him home with a single. Bobby Wilson was hit by a pitch and Mike Trout drove in Aybar with a single. In the eighth, Kendrys Morales and Mark Trumbo went back to back. Kendrick doubled again and Wilson drove him him in with his first double of the year.
The Angel bullpen was in lock-down mode as Scott Downs, Jason Isringhausen and Jordan Walden only gave up two hits while striking out four the last three innings. Getting Weaver back is huge and if he keeps pitching like the old Jered Weaver things will really get interesting in the west between the Angels and Rangers.
After a day off today, Freeway Series part deux kicks off Friday with Dan Haren facing Chris Capuano at 7:05 PT.
