Halo Highlights- Weaver Shuts Down the Tribe

When you get a match-up of two aces, sometimes it leads to 10-9 games. The match-up of Jered Weaver and Ubaldo Jimenez live up to that. Weaver was up to his old tricks. You wonder if he would’ve been the All-Star if he stayed healthy throughout the first half. Weaver improved to 9-1 as the Halos beat the Indians 3-0.
No one scored until the fifth. Howard Kendrick got hit by a pitch, stole second and went to third on a Bobby Wilson single. Erick Aybar drove in Kendrick with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the seventh, Kendrick hit a solo shot, his fifth of the year. In the ninth, the Angels added one more after a single and two intentional walks, Alberto Callaspo walked to drive in a run.
Weaver pitched seven strong innings, really only tiring late in the game. Scott Downs came in and slammed the door lowering his ERA to a miniscule 0.32. Congrats to Mark Trumbo, who before the game, was picked to the Home Run Derby AL team on Monday. I look forward to seeing a few Trumbombs into the fountains of Kansas City. Don’t forget to for Ernesto Frieri as well Halo fans.
Dan Haren will take on Zach McAllister tomorrow at 7:05 ET/ 4:05 PT
