The Angels lost their first series in a month as Ervin Santana was rocked for nine runs in less than two innings as the Halos fell 12-3. Santana falls to 4-9 with an ERA over 5.75. The Indians scored early and often.

In the bottom of the first after two outs, Santana walked two, and Michael Brantley hit a three run home run. The Angels loaded the bases in the top of the second but could only muster a ground out for Maicer Izturis. The wheels came off in the second. After two singles, Shin-Soo Choo doubled to drive in a run. Asdrubal Cabrera drove in another with an RBI groundout. Jason Kipnis drove in Choo with a single. Travis Hafner singled to knock Santana out of the game. After a fielder’s choice, Casey Kotchman hit a three run homer making it 9-1. The Indians concluded their scoring in the fifth on RBI by Marson, Choo and Cabrera. In the top of the sixth Alberto Calaaspo hit a sac fly and Izturis drove in another run with a single.

The Angels return home for the last series before the All-Star Break to take on the Orioles. Garrett Richards will look to improve on his worst start of the year the last time out and save the taxed bullpen vs Jake Arrieta at 7:05 PT/10:05 ET.
