Halo Highlights- Matt Moore Shuts Down Halo Offense

Momentum is a good as your next day’s starting pitcher. Tampa bay certainly had momentum on their side. Matt Moore pitched very well, giving up four hits, striking out six as the Rays beat the Angels 3-0 to even the weekend series. It’s not like C.J. Wilson was awful. He certainly pitched well enough to win giving up only two earned runs in 6.2 innings while striking out seven.

The Rays jumped on the board quickly as Desmond Jennings led off the game with a double. B.J. Upton‘s bunt single moved Jennings to third. Ben Zobrist‘s sac fly brought home Jennings. In the top of the second, Sean Rodriguez walked, stole second and went to third when Bobby Wilson‘s throw went into center. Matt Joyce hit a pop up to short that somehow Maicer Izturis completely missed and that allowed Rodriguez to score. Zobrist tacked on a solo homer in the third.
The Angels only real threat was in the bottom of the fifth when Bobby Wilson doubled, Mike Trout reached on an error and Torii Hunter walked. Albert Pujols popped up to short and with Mark Trumbo hitting, Bobby Wilson was thrown out at home trying to score on a wild pitch.
Zack Greinke will make his Angel debut Sunday against Jeremy Hellickson at 12:35 PT/3:35 ET. Let’s see if Greinke is more like the Miller Park version or the away version.
