Well the Angels bats certainly know how to break out of a slump huh? You gotta love baseball. One day you can’t score. The next you score 15. The Angels dropped a 15 spot on the Rangers in last night’s 15-8 win. Kendrys Morales became the third player in MLB history to hit a home run from each side of the plate in the same inning.

The Angels actually were down in this game. Maicer Izturis homered in the second to start the scoring, but the Rangers got two right back on a sac fly by Michael Young and a double by David Murphy. Mike Trout hit a two run homer in the third to get the lead back. Josh Hamilton hit his 29th homer of the year in the fourth.

Then the Angels dropped a nine run haymaker in the sixth. Kendrys Morales hit his first homer of the inning after Albert Pujols double. After three singles, Bobby Wilson and Trout each added singles of their own to drive in three runs. After a strikeout, Pujols was intentionally walked, Morales hit a grand slam. Young hit a sac fly for the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth. In the seventh Hunter got a bases loaded walk and Pujols drove in two with a single. Nelson Cruz hit a homer in the seventh, Mike Napoli hit a home run in the eighth and Cruz added an RBI double in the ninth.

Game two of the series is tonight at 5:05PT/8:05ET as Jered Weaver will take on Derek Holland. We’ll see if either team looks different for this game with the non-waiver deadline in a couple of hours at 4pm ET. I believe the Angels are done but the Rangers may make another deal or two other than the one made last night.
