Halo Highlights- Weaver Dominates A’s in Shutout

To paraphrase the DJ Khaled song; All Jered Weaver does is win, win, win no matter what. Weaver doesn’t blow people away. He doesn’t throw 100 mph like Justin Verlander or Stephen Strasburg. He just goes about his business and gets the job done like he did last night. Weaver improves to 15-1 on the season, throwing a complete game, four hit shutout as the Angels took a big game one of their series with the A’s 4-0. Imagine what Weaver’s record would be like if he hadn’t been hurt earlier in the year.

The Angels got two in the second when Kendrys Morales doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and driven in by the just activated off the disabled list, Erick Aybar. Chris Iannetta singled and Mike Trout brought home Aybar with a single. The Angels got two tack on runs in the seventh when Aybar and Iannetta again singled. Trout’s groundball to first moved everyone up a base and Torii Hunter brought everyone home with a single to chase A’s starter Jarrod Parker.
The bullpen got a much needed breather due to the complete game by Weaver. It hasn’t been good of late and the Angels really needed this performance out of their ace and that’s exactly what they got. The series resumes tonight when C.J. Wilson will take on Bartolo Colon at 7:05PT/10:05ET.
