Now this is the Zack Greinke we all thought we were getting at the deadline. Greinke pitched 7.2 innings of one-run ball and Howard Kendrick’s clutch double gave the Angels a 2-1 win and their fourth win in a row.

In that sixth inning, Maicer Izturis singled and Torii Hunter was hit by a pitch. After Kendrys Morales struck out, Mark Trumbo grounded into a force out that moved Izturis to third. Kendrick came up and brought everyone home. The Tigers lone run came on Miguel Cabrera‘s 32nd homer of the year and the last batter Greinke would face.

Greinke did a great job of keeping control, only walking two and having quick innings. Mike Scioscia made an interesting choice going with Garrett Richards to get the save, his first of his career. With Ernesto Frieri pitching two stressful innings last night, and using Scott Downs to set up, Richards may have been the only choice.

The Angels will look for their sixth win in a row when Dan Haren tries to right the ship against Drew Smyly. The game is at 7:05ET/4:05PT.
