For all the struggles that the Angels had last month, it looks like the ship has been righted a little bit. Of course it all starts with starting pitching and last night was Dan Haren‘s turn to turn in a good performance. Haren went seven innings giving up only three hits and one unearned run as the Angels took game one of the series with Seattle 9-1.

Torii Hunter singled, Albert Pujols walked and Kendrys Morales hit his 18th homer of the year. In the bottom half, Franklin Gutierrez singled and went to third when Haren’s pickoff throw was thrown away. John Jaso brought him in with a single. In the second, Mike Trout reached on Kyle Seager‘s error. Hunter singled and Pujols followed that with a single of his own.

In the fourth, Trout walked and Pujols and Morales each singled. In the sixth, Trout walked, stole second and scored on Hunter’s double. In the ninth, Erick Aybar tripled and Albert Callaspo doubled him home. Bobby Wilson followed that up with his third homer of the year.

The Angels winning ways will be put to the test today, as Ervin Santana will take the hill against Felix Hernandez at 4:05ET/1:05PT
