Halo Highlights- Iwakuma Quiets Angel Offense

Two out of three is okay to take in a series when you are fighting for a playoff birth, especially when you are taking on a team that’s been playing as well as Seattle has. Hisashi Iwakuma came into the game only giving up one earned in 20.2 innings. He added to that streak giving up nothing in 7.1 innings of work and the Mariners beat the Angels 2-1.
In the fourth, Jesus Montero hit his 15th homer of the year. In the fifth, Carlos Peguero hit his second homer of the year. The Angels finally broke through in the ninth when Kendrys Morales walked and Vernon Wells ran for him. He went to second on defensive indifference and scored on Howard Kendrick’s single, but Erick Aybar would fly out to end the game.
The Angels now need to beat the teams in front of them and will get their opportunity too. They’ve won nine out of 12 but only picked up one game in the standings.
Now they get their chance when they take on Oakland in seven of the next ten. Game one of this is today as C.J. Wilson will take on Tom Milone at 1:05PT/4:05ET. Enjoy Labor Day everyone.
