Halo Highlights- Wells and Iannetta Lead Way In Win

If the Angels are going to make the playoffs, guys like Chris Iannetta and Vernon Wells are going to have to contribute when their name is called. They did just that yesterday as they combined to reach base seven times and drive in five runs as the Angels took game one of an important series with the Oakland A’s 8-3.
Wells and Iannetta got the two run scoring singles in the second inning to give the Angels a 2-0 lead. They extended that lead in the third when Torii Hunter led off with his 13th homer of the year. Albert Pujols doubled but was erased on Howard Kendrick’s fielder’s choice. Erick Aybar singled home Kendrick.
Wells then hit his 10th homer of the year to lead off the fourth. In the bottom half, Jonny Gomes doubled and Josh Reddick singled him in. Josh Donaldson hit his sixth homer of the year to lead off the bottom of the fifth. The Angels responded in the sixth when Wells walked and Iannetta hit his eighth homer of the year. Mike Trout then walked, stole second and went to third on Derrick Norris’ error and scored on a sac fly by Hunter. Chris Carter hit his 14th of the year in the bottom half of the eighth.
The important series continues as Zack Greinke and Jarrod Parker will duel at 7:05PT/10:05ET
