It’s always nice to get your ace back. Jered Weaver was back and looked like his first half self. Weaver threw seven shut out innings just when the Angels needed it the most as they managed to get a win against the A’s 6-0.

Everyone expected a pitchers duel and it lived up to the billing. It was all zeroes between Weaver and Brett Anderson until the seventh. Torii Hunter lead off the inning with a double. After a line out, Erick Aybar doubled and scored on Mark Trumbo‘s single. Vernon Wells singled and after a strikeout, Mike Trout walked.

Alberto Callaspo followed it up with a single to drive in two. A’s catcher George Kottaras let a ball skip by him and Trout scored. Pujols walked and Hunter singled to get his second RBI and hit of the inning.

The Angels are 3.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot as they head to Kansas City to take on the Royals this weekend. C.J. Wilson and Bruce Chen will duel at 8:10ET/5:10PT
