The The Angels Angels of Anaheim resume their season tonight in Cincinnati after yesterday’s “weather day” and they send left-hander C.J. Wilson to the mound against Reds’ righty Mat Latos.
In Monday’s season opener, the Reds held the Angels highly-touted offense in check, but forgot to account for catcher Chris Iannetta who put the Angels ahead twice: once in the third inning with a solo home run off of Johnny Cueto—the only damage they were able to render against the Reds’ hurler; and once with a two-run single in the top-of-the-thirteenth off of J.J. Hoover.
Jered Weaver overcame an alarming velocity drop and some struggles early on and gutted out six strong innings, allowing one run and striking out four. The bullpen—a trouble-spot on the team—acquitted itself very well throwing seven shutout innings allowing but a single hit and three walks while striking out nine.
