Today began the Winter Meetings, and thus began the hostile takeover of my Twitter and Facebook newsfeeds. I follow a good number of MLB-related blogs and websites and writers, so by the end of the day approximately 1 in 4 posts was somehow related to the wheeling and dealing going on in Orlando, FL.
Most prominent were the news of Roy Halladay’s plans to retire, the latest on Masahiro Tanaka, and the trade talks swirling around Mark Trumbo (would it be appropriate to insert an “I told you so” here). But there were a number of more obscure headlines that you may have missed, so I am going to take this opportunity to share them with you now.
Update: “Cruz wins Mushroom Cup, Choo demands rematch.”
Update: “No word from agents, Choo and Cruz play best of seven.”
“Roy Halladay announces retirement, headed to Disney World.”
Update: “Halladay gets picture taken with loyal fans, Mickey Mouse and Goofy.”
“Rays and Angels talk trade: Trumbo for Price.”
Update: “Rays asking for Trumbo, handful of prospects, and Disneyland season passes in exchange for David Price.”
Update: “Jerry Dipoto reminds Rays that Disney no longer owns Halos; offers coupon to ESPN Sports Zone.”
Update: “Talks between Rays and Angels hit snag over minutia.”
Come back tomorrow for more Winter Meetings news than you ever needed… or wanted.
