How Does The Bench Round Out?

The Angels have arguably one of the better overall line-ups in the game, with as much star power as any team in baseball. However, what they lack is a quality bench, and that is something that came back to bite them last season, especially when some of those bigger names went down with injuries.

The Angels will attempt to rectify that by bringing in veterans John McDonald, Carlos Pena, Ian Stewart, Chad Tracy, Brennan Boesch, and Yorvit Torrealba to camp. That will create a competition to fill out the roster, and may reduce the team’s need to fall back on players like Grant Green, Collin Cowgill, et al. It will also provide plenty of opportunity for their up and coming position players in the minors to receive a bit more seasoning without feeling rushed.
