It was a no brainer but the Los Angeles Angels made it official that they will be bringing back Huston Street on a $7 million option for the 2015 season. LHP Sean Burnett will not be returning after he receives $500K buyout and Halos return Brian Moran to Mariners.

Huston Street had one of the best seasons this season by a closer. In a Halo uniform he pitched 26 and one-third innings, and allowed five total runs. He also struck out 23 while walking seven. He didn’t make his money on the strikeout, but it was there when he needed it and he didn’t allow free base runners. That is why he was great in 2014.

He will remain 31 until August, so that is a good sign for the Angels. Where he makes his money is on the ground ball. The sinker baller had a 36 percent ground ball rate between San Diego and Los Angeles and that is a money maker. It doesn’t get much better than that when trying to close out a game in the ninth. It will be great seeing Street back on the mound in 2015 in an Angels uniform.
On the other end, Sean Burnett will not be returning to Los Angeles in 2015. After having shoulder problems he only logged two-thirds of an inning in 2014 and it was hard for the Angels to take a risk on him to bring him back in 2015.
Brian Moran was returned to the Mariners after he cleared waivers. The rule five draft pick had Tommy John Surgery in April and was never able to get on a mound for the Angels.
