Mike Trout

Mike Trout is the best player in baseball, and it is not even close. Nobody offers more value to their team than Trout, both offensively and defensively. The Angels centerfielder hit .287 while clubbing a career high, 36 home runs in 2014. Trout’s 111 runs batted in, and 115 runs scored both led the Major Leagues.

This season belonged to Trout, and so far this awards season has belonged to him as well. Trout took home the Players Choice Award for American League Player of the Year. Shortly after, Trouty won his first MVP Award this offseason, after finishing second in each of his first two seasons.

Trout is up for an incredible four GIBBY Awards Saturday night, and is a good bet to take home at least one trophy. Trout is nominated for the Most Valuable Major Leaguer Award, as well as the Everyday Player of the Year. Trout is also up for the Walk-off of the Year for his game winning home run on May 15th against the Tampa Bay Rays. Lastly, Trout is nominated for Outfield Throw of the Year for when he gunned down, Nori Aoki, of the Kansas City Royals at third base.
