Matt Shoemaker had a truly impressive rookie campaign in the Big A, going 16-4 and posting a 3.04 ERA. The bearded wonder entered the season as a relative unknown, and exited the 2014 season as a stalwart in the Halos rotation for years to come. The 28-year-old has had his share of fanfare this winter, as he finished in second place for both the MLB Rookie of the Year Award and the Players Choice Rookie of the year.
On Saturday night, Shoemaker is up for the GIBBY’s Rookie of the Year Award. Shoemaker has some stiff competition, but because of the fans influence, you never know how the GIBBY’s will turn out.
