Last but certainly not least, Jerry Dipoto is up for the Executive of the Year Award. Dipoto has been at the center of a few big moves since becoming the Angels general manager in the fall of 2011, but it was his under the radar acquisitions that have earned this nomination. The signing of, Joe Smith, did not receive the hype of some of the Halos past free agent signings, but it proved just as vital. The Trade for, Huston Street, filled a huge need for the Angels and provided them with a veteran closer capable of piling up 40 plus saves a season. Dipoto is a smart young man with a very generous owner, and appears poised to become one of the leagues best GM’s.
