Oakland Athletics – Swingin’ A’s

The parodical son has finally returned to Oakland. The A’s signed veteran southpaw Barry Zito to a minor league deal this week, reuniting him with the franchise that drafted him back in 1999. Joseph DeClercq of Swingin’ A’s discusses the deal, and Zito’s potential impact in 2015. The 36-year-old had his best seasons in Oakland, making three all star teams and winning one Cy Young award as a member of the Athletics.

Every team has signed free agents to minor league deals this offseason, and the Athletics are no exception. Matt McHugh of Swingin A’s took some time this week to break down the Athletics non-roster invitees in camp. With so much turnover on the A’s roster this winter, a few of these names are likely to see some time this season in green and yellow.
