Honorable Mentions
UTIL Sherman Johnson – NRI who hit .276/.382/.465 with 17 homers last year in High-A Inland Empire. Can play around the diamond and could fill Angels’ utility role in a few years.
OF Alfredo Marte – Corner outfielder with big power from the right side of the plate but never put it together at the major league level. Just 26 years old, could get called up from Triple-A later this year.
RHP Jeremy McBryde – Right-handed reliever who has never seen a day in the majors but dominated righties last year for Oakland’s Triple-A affiliate. Similar to Pestano, could be a righty specialist.
UTIL Johnny Giavotella – Angels picked him up for next to nothing from the Royals this offseason. Will compete for roster spot but is out of options so this is somewhat of a make or break Spring Training for Giavotella.
3B Kyle Kubitza – The heir to David Freese. Posted an OBP north of .400 last year in Double-A and stole 21 bags as well. Should be able to get a good glimpse of him before he becomes full time starter in 2016.
