Jered Weaver will take the mound for the first time this spring as the Angels take on the Colorado Rockies at 12:10 PM PT. The Halos are fresh off a 3-2 win over the Brewers yesterday with a lineup that looked similar to the projected Opening Day lineup.

Weaver projects to be the Angels’ Opening Day starter for the 6th consecutive season with C.J. Wilson and Matt Shoemaker rounding out the 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Weaver posted a 3.59 ERA over 213.1 innings last year with a 2.60 K/BB ratio. The Cal State Long Beach product will look to silence critics in 2015 and bounce back from a 2014 campaign that saw him post his highest ERA since 2009.

This is the lineup the Angels will roll out today:

The first four hitters from yesterday return to action today with Erick Aybar being bumped up one spot in the lineup today. Drew Butera and Grant Green will make their 2015 Spring Training debut today and Kyle Kubitza looks to get an extended look at third base today in place of David Freese.

Kyle Kendrick will start on the bump today for the Rockies who lost to the Diamondbacks yesterday. Kendrick signed in the offseason with the Rockies after spending the last eight years with the Philadelphia Phillies. The right-hander got beat around to a 4.61 ERA in 32 starts last year and sports a 4.42 ERA in his big league career. The Rockies hope he can bolster their pitching staff which ranked dead last in the majors in runs allowed.

Players to Watch: Make sure to keep an eye on the Angels’ Green and Kubitza today as they will get an extended look in the field. Green, who posted a .904 OPS last year in Triple-A, is vying for the second base/utility spot this year. Kubitza struggled yesterday and looked overmatched at the plate, striking out in both plate appearances. With Freese becoming a free agent at the end of the year, Kubitza is the Angels’ best bet to take over in 2016 and could fill in for Freese in case of injury.
