The Rockies traded Marco Scutaro to the Giants for Charlie Culberson
Sometimes all it takes is an underrated move like this one to push a team over the edge. The SF Giants were the winners of the 2012 World Series, and that most likely doesn’t happen without Scutaro. He was brought in to add depth and flexibility but became the foundation for a championship team.
Scutaro swung and missed just 9 times in 198 plate appearances. His advanced approach at the plate proved to be the difference maker in the playoffs. Where he had 14 hits in the NLCS against the Cardinals, with 6 multi hit games. Timely hitting, professional at bats, and great defense is what Scutaro provided and because of that the Giants hoisted the trophy in 2012.
