David Murphy

Grade: B+

Murphy proved to be a worthy pick up for the Angels at the trade deadline as he finished with a .265 batting average, including five home runs and 23 RBIs in his 48 games with the Angels this season. These stats weren’t bad since his career average has been .270 over the 10 seasons he’s played in the majors.

Murphy’s bat wasn’t a huge need with the amount of power the Angels have in the outfield with Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun, but provided key hits in several games and even had a couple walk-off hits. The Angels will have the opportunity to re-sign Murphy for a good price with a $7 million club option.
