Drew Butera

Grade: D

The Angels brought in Butera in the offseason, another one of Scioscia’s famed defensive catchers. The move had some Angels fans scratching their head wondering why the team needed two defensive catchers over the age of 30. Butera only played in 10 games and owned a measly .190 batting average through 21 at-bats. The veteran catcher was traded on May 7 to the Kansas City Royals for Ryan Jackson, paving the way for Perez to make his major league debut.
