Why the Los Angeles Angels need to keep David Freese

Kaleb Cowart
Grade: D+
The other third basemen for the Los Angeles Angels were way below average. The one who showed the most promise is former top prospect Kaleb Cowart. I think he is still a year away, but after a few years in decline, he is on his way up.
Cowart definitely showed some promise, especially with the leather as he was used a lot in the final month as a late inning defensive replacement for Freese.
However, Cowart’s hitting still left a lot to be desired as he finished with a .174 average (eight for 46) with one home run and five RBIs. Cowart started out going 0 for 14, so if you take that away, he hit .250 the rest of his time up with the Angels. He made only two errors in 52 chances, which is above average for third basemen.
I truly believe that he will be a solid third baseman by 2017.
