Huston Street – 3-3 3.18 ERA 40 Saves 57 K’s 1.16 WHIP

Huston Street has been a model of consistency throughout his MLB career and 2015 was no different.  Street converted 40 of 45 save opportunities and solidified the backend of the Los Angeles Angels bullpen once again.

Over the past five seasons Street has converted 178 of 192 save opportunities with an ERA of 2.18 and a WHIP of 1.01.  Pretty spectacular numbers.  Last season Street’s ERA and WHIP were considerably higher than in the previous four seasons, but that was due in large to three monster blown saves where Street allowed 10 runs in only two innings.

Street is still a great option as a closer and is projected as a top 15 closer option for 2016 going between the 12th and 14th round.  The Angels will probably play a lot of close games again this season so there will be a plethora of save opportunities for Street in 2016.  The only thing to be a little weary of is the injury bug that bit Street late in 2015.

As for the best of the rest, there really isn’t anyone of note Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson are both coming off injuries and are not worth risking a pick on as is Tyler Skaggs.  Hector Santiago and Matt Shoemaker are questionable to make the rotation so they all could be guys you might want to watch and see if they are worth picking up as free agents. Joe Smith the Angels set-up man could be worth a flyer in very deep leagues where closers are not readily available, but for the most part he has little or no fantasy value.

Good luck and happy drafting!
