It can be argued that the closer is one of the most important pieces to a championship team. Today, we will break down the best of the best for the Angels, the top five closer’s. Having a reliable closer to come in late and finish the job is key in baseball as well as most other sports. In basketball, its the player you want to take the last shot. In football, its who can command the 2 minute offense. In baseball, its the pitcher you want on the mound in the 9th inning.

Number 5. Huston Street

Huston Street is a closer tried and true. Some might say its in his blood going back to his days as a Texas Longhorn. With over 350 saves in his career, Street has proved to be a valuable closer for the Halos saving 40 times in 62 games last season. Since he was acquired from the Padres in a 6 player deal, he has 57 saves over 90 games.

Last season he started 6 games and went .500 with and ERA of 3.18. Huston Street has clearly found a home in LA. being a former Oakland A was key in the trade because of his familiarity with the AL West. Here’s a highlight of his debut in an Angel uniform.
