  1. Houston Astros 86-76 2015 Wildcard Winner

The Houston Astros have become a major rival to the Angels over the past couple of years as they have had some epic games with the Astros over the past couple of years especially last season. Not only that, but the Angels battled all season with the Astros for the division and at the end the second wild-card spot.

This year it should be the same as the Astros are even better than last season as they added Carlos Gomez at the trade deadline last season and will now have him for a full year.  To go along with Gomez, the Astros also have All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve, and rookie of the year Carlos Correa who they will also have for a full season after he 99 games last season after being called up from the minors in late June.

There were some amazing games last season.  First there was a 13 inning game last June that the Angels won 2-1 on a Taylor Featherstone single that gave the Angels some momentum as they took two of three from Houston after taking two of three from the New York Yankees in the previous series.  There were also two classic games in September.  The first saw the Angels blow a 3-0 9th inning lead as Jed Lowrie capped it with a 3-run pinch hit homer to win 5-in a game that for all intents and purposes cost the Los Angeles Angels the wild-card.  The Angels did exact a measure of revenge a week later rallying for three runs in the 8th inning to take a 6-5 series clinching victory in Houston keeping the Angels slim playoff hopes alive.

The final season series was 10-9 for Houston, it should be more of the same in 2016.
