5. New York Yankees – 87-75 AL Wildcard

The Los Angeles Angels were also battling the New York Yankees for the final wildcard spot falling two games short of the Bronx Bombers.  The Angels lost 4 of 6 games to the Yankees being swept in early June in New York and then taking 2 of 3 games at the end of the month.

The series every year is a much anticipated one and has spilled into the post-season three times since 2002 with the Angels winning two of those post-season series. The Yankees have a new and improved bullpen anchored by Aroldis Chapman which should help them protect leads in the late innings.

We will see how the Angels fare when they battle New York for four games in the Bronx during early June and then host the Yankees in mid August for three.  As always it will be an intense series. Could it be an October preview is anyone’s guess.

The Los Angeles Angels have many other important series during the 2016 season, these are just some of the highlights. Check out this link for full 2016 season schedule.
